Music Therapy with Shiawassee

Shiawassee is a singer and songwriter from Ypsilanti and a proud Family 734 member using music as a path toward healing, honesty, and real community connection. For her, music has never just been about performing. It’s been a way to process life. A way to deal with mental health, trauma, and everything that comes with it. Writing became her outlet. Her way to release and breathe. Now, she’s stepping fully back into her purpose with what she calls “The Soundtrack to Shi’s Healing Journey.” And she’s not keeping that journey to herself. Her latest release, “Mind Blowing Miracle,” is more than just a song. It’s a reflection of growth, faith, and letting go. The message is clear:Let go of what no longer serves you. Trust the process. Let God guide your healing. That kind of honesty is what separates her music. It’s not surface-level. It’s lived.

A Space for Healing: Open Mic Jam Session

Shiawassee is taking things a step further by creating a space where others can experience that same release through music. She is hosting a weekly open mic jam session centered around music therapy, designed to bring people together through creativity and healing.
